The Wellness Doctor Speaks - October 20, 2010
As I begin this column and refer to myself as a “Wellness Doctor”, an intelligent person might ask, “What credentials does Dr. Darrel Loder have to proclaim himself a Wellness Doctor?”
This is a great question because everywhere you go these days, you see the word “wellness” attached to all types of business entities, being used simply as a marketing tool without any formal credentialing.
Besides having a doctorate degree in a profession, (chiropractic), which philosophically fits into the wellness paradigm, (belief system), I am also currently one of only two doctors of chiropractic in the state of Kansas with a post-doctorate degree in Wellness Science. The post-doctorate certification through the International Chiropractic Association involved 96 hours of program study with a final certification exam. Completion of the program and passing the final exam awards the doctor the Certified Chiropractic Wellness Practitioner designation. Essentially, the certification program provides doctors of chiropractic the expertise required to practice evidence-based wellness, and to teach others how to live genetically congruent lives to reduce their risk of chronic illness (heart disease, cancer, diabetes, etc.).
Next time, we will begin to address why 80% of the population in western society is dying prematurely of PREVENTABLE chronic illness.
Stay tuned,
Dr. Darrel Loder
